Time for some Friday fun-these last couple weeks we've been busy planting seeds! We'll keep these trays under grow lights in our seed lab until they're ready to get planted. Some of them will go to Kennedy High School in Bloomington, others to restoration areas around our watershed!

Spring is almost here in Minnesota, and with it comes the urge to get out in the garden. But wait! ✋ Hold off on the yard cleanup for now. Many pollinators are still overwintering in last year’s plant material.

March is Women's History Month. Nine Mile Creek Watershed District will highlight 4 women in Minnesota's history this month to honor the hard-working women in our state and the US.

Julia Bullard Nelson of Red Wing, Minnesota headed south to Texas in 1869 to teach African Americans in U.S. government-backed Freedmen's Bureau schools. Nelson spent the summers of the 1870s and 1880s in Minnesota, where she emerged as a state and national leader in the movement for women's suffrage and the temperance campaign against alcohol use.

Learn more about her work at https://www.mnhs.org/mnopedia/search/index/person/nelson-julia-bullard-1842-1914. If the link doesn't, work go to the Minnesota Historical Society website and search "Julia Bullard Nelson".
