Join us for the FINAL Stem on Tap of the season- this month the topic is-
Drinking Water Sources, Treatment + Conservation

Rick Wahlen, Utilities Operations Manager, City of Eden Prairie
Joe Dusek, Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, City of Eden Prairie
Wednesday, April 15th, 4:30-6:30pm | Eden Prairie Water Treatment Plant

Not all drinking water sources are equal, and neither are treatment systems. Some are very simple and basic, while others are extraordinarily complex. You will have an opportunity to tour the plant and observe the robust treatment process as we learn how Eden Prairie protects the quantity and quality of its deep well drinking water.

Since this month’s event will take place at a working, industrial facility, the “Tap” in “STEM on Tap” this month is the drinking water tap! No alcohol is allowed.

April fools! Nine Mile Creek isn't actually 9 miles long, it's closer to 15! It got that name from when settlers were trying to get to Fort Snelling: they knew they only had 9 more miles to go once they crossed the creek.

March is Women's History Month. Nine Mile Creek Watershed District will highlight 4 women in Minnesota's history this month to honor the hard-working women in our state and the US.

Nellie Francis pressed the limits of what an African American woman was permitted to achieve in early twentieth-century Minnesota. She was a churchwoman, clubwoman, suffragist, organizer, singer, civil rights worker, patriot, and wife to Minnesota’s first African American diplomat, William T. Francis.

Learn more about her work at https://www.mnhs.org/mnopedia/search/index/person/francis-nellie-1874-1969. If the link doesn't, work go to the Minnesota Historical Society website and search "Nellie Francis".
