Web Privacy Statement

Nine Mile Creek Watershed District takes the protection of the privacy of your personal information very seriously. NMCWD manages such information in accordance with the state Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statutes chapter 13. (Find the NMCWD Policies and Procedures for Public Access to Documents here.)  

This privacy statement discloses how NMCWD gathers and uses information from its website. 

When you visit the NMCWD website, the server that hosts the site collects and stores certain information about your visit. We collect information in two main ways:

A) Information you provide to us directly:

  • Contact Form: When you contact NMCWD through the “Contact” page, your name, email address, and the content of your message will be collected so NMCWD can respond to your inquiry. 
  • Event or Contest Submission Form: When you sign up for an event or submit photos to NMCWD’s photo contest, your name, email, and sometimes address and phone number are collected so that you can be contacted if needed.  

B) Information we collect automatically:

  • Usage Data: Like most websites, NMCWD automatically collects certain information when you visit our site. This may include your internet protocol address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visited, the time and date of your visit, and how long you spent on those pages. This information is used to understand how visitors use our site and to improve its functionality and user experience. 
  • Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. NMCWD uses cookies to compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions in order to offer better site experiences and tools in the future. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through the pop-up when you open the website.  

C) How we use the information: 

NMCWD uses the collected information for the following purposes: 

  • To Operate NMCWD Website: To provide and maintain the features and functionality of the site. 
  • To Communicate with You: To respond to your questions, comments, and inquiries submitted through our contact form 
  • To Communicate to You: To inform you about any updates about the event you signed up for, or to let you know if you need to submit more information about your photo submission for the photo contest.  
  • To Improve Our Campaign: To analyze usage data to understand traffic patterns and improve the NMCWD website’s design, content, and outreach. 

Third-Party Disclosure: 

NMCWD does not sell, trade or otherwise transfer to outside parties any information you provide that would allow such parties to identify you, though such information is provided also to NMCWD’s website-hosting provider and other parties who provide services related to the operation of the NMCWD website. These parties agree to keep the information gathered confidential.  NMCWD may also release your information when necessary to comply with law, enforce site policies or protect NMCWD’s or others’ rights, property or safety. 

Non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided (typically in aggregated form) to other parties to improve website functionality, design and usability.

NMCWD does not include or offer third-party products or services on its website.
