The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District

The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District is approximately 50 square miles and encompasses the land area draining to Nine Mile Creek. We a public entity that works together with our partners and community stakeholders to manage, protect and enhance the water resources in the land area draining to Nine Mile Creek for everyone’s benefit. We serve the residents, property-owners and visitors of the cities in our district: Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Richfield.

Board Meetings

Unless otherwise noted, the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board of Managers meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at the District office, Nine Mile Creek Discovery Point (12800 Gerard Dr., Eden Prairie). Citizen Advisory Committee

The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) is a volunteer advisory group that supports the watershed district in its mission to manage, restore, and protect water resources. The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District CAC meets quarterly. Anyone interested in citizen education, water issues, or exploring the role of the District in managing water challenges with Nine Mile Creek or any of the District lakes is welcome to attend CAC meetings. Water Management Plan

The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Management Plan sets the vision, guidelines, and proposed tasks for managing surface water within the boundaries of the NMCWD.

Required by law, the District’s current Plan was adopted in March 2007, with the fifth generation plan due December 31, 2017. BWSR (the Minnesota Board of Water & Soil Resources) granted the District a plan extension on January 25, 2017. The Plan is prepared in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 103D and 103B.231, and Minnesota Rules 8410.

Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Water Management Plan 2007-2017 (PDF)

Next Generation Plan Update: The Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) approved the District’s Fifth Generation Water Management Plan on September 27, 2017. The Plan sets the vision, guidelines, and proposed tasks for managing surface water within the boundaries of the District. The District Board plans to formally adopt the Fifth Generation Water Management Plan at its October 18th regular board meeting.

Annual Reports

Consistent with its statutory and regulatory obligations under Minn. Stat. § 103D.351 and Minnesota Rules § 8410.0150, the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District (NMCWD) Board of Managers prepares an Annual Report of the NMCWD’s financial status, its yearly activities and projects, its permitting and enforcement program, and its goals and objectives for the next year.
