STEM on Tap is a workshop series that connects STEM teachers with practitioners, resources, and each other. Each workshop takes place at a brewery in the southwest metro and features a different STEM practitioner and topic. Workshops stand alone–attend one or attend them all! There is a $20 registration fee that includes presentation and food. For more information and to register: https://www.rpbcwd.org/stem-on-tap

Peggy Kvam retired from our Board of Managers after six years of service. Peggy was first appointed to the board in September of 2020, at a uniquely challenging time. She began her service during the COVID-19 pandemic, when board meetings were held entirely online. Even so, Peggy approached the work with commitment and a genuine willingness to learn, serve, and contribute. She served as Treasurer since 2022. Peggy’s commitment to clean water and community service also predates her time on the board. Before her appointment, she participated in the district’s work as a cost-share grant recipient, completed the Minnesota Water Stewards program, and remained active in her community in other service roles. Thank you Peggy, and best of luck on the next adventure!

An important part of NMCWD’s Project Implementation Framework is the Project Public Hearing. This is an opportunity for the Board of Managers to hear and consider public input on a proposed project before making a decision. Project Public Hearings are held during a Board of Managers meeting, and the public can participate in person or online. The next Board meeting with a public hearing will focus on North Cornelia Lake Management and will be held: September 16 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Find more information here: https://www.ninemilecreek.org/event/board-meeting/2026-09-16/

If you're participating in the Grate Drain Race, the most important part to remember is to log your cleanings! The more times you clean (and log it) the more entries you get into the prize raffles. You can log your cleanings on the same website you used to adopt your drain(s) in the first place, https://mn.adopt-a-drain.org/ Any cleanings or new drains adopted through November will automatically be a part of our competition.
