Office Seed Lab Updates
The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District has a seed lab located in the greenhouse at its office. After winterizing the supply of native plant seeds, Nine Mile Creek Watershed District staff have started the process of growing plants in the seed lab. We are using grow lights to ensure that our plants are ready for the outdoors when the weather gets a bit warmer
Plant species that we are currently growing include anise hyssop, side oats grama, wild columbine, wild bergamot, black-eyed Susan, rattlesnake master, blazing star, and butterfly weed
If you are interested in growing your own native plants, stop by our free seed library located just outside the main door at our office (12800 Gerard Dr, Eden Prairie) to grab some of your own seeds.
We gathered all our seeds from the native plantings at our office. We are still in active restoration- so if you stop by, please stay on trails and don’t gather your own seeds- pick them up at the seed library.
We hope to host a seed collection in the future when our plants are mature.
