Minnesota Lawmakers aim to curb oversalting

The group Stop OversaltingDespite winter coming to a close, the “salt” bills are moving through the Minnesota House and Senate. HF 1502 and its companion SF 1667 would create a statewide program to teach best management practices in salt application to applicators. The bills specifically target private snow and ice management contractors; as long as these folk are certified in the best practices, and use them, they would have some protection from slip and fall lawsuits. The citizen’s group, Stop OverSalting, has been at the forefront of this effort, speaking with legislators, and educating the community on the benefit of these bills.
