The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District, in partnership with the City of Eden Prairie, will begin the final phase of habitat restoration on its property on March 31st. Work will likely occur over three days through April 2nd, dependent on weather.

Minnesota Native Landscapes (MNL) will remove buckthorn and other woody invasive species from the District’s and City’s property over the course of approximately two days. Select trees will also be removed. MNL will use a forestry mower for the buckthorn removal work. At times when the forestry mower is operating, portions of the Cardinal Creek trail will be closed to protect the safety of pedestrians. If you are in the area, please respect all trail closures during this time.

Following buckthorn removal, MNL will install a native seed mix. Then, when the conditions are appropriate in the spring, MNL will install fifty shrubs and eighteen trees to complete the habitat restoration.
