Whew! It got hot outside quickly this year. When the temperatures spike, we need to hydrate, and so does our lawn. However, how can we be more sustainable when irrigating our lawns? We've all seen those sprinklers that somehow water the road instead of the grass. Check your sprinklers for leaks and other malfunctions to save money and water each year. A helpful rule of thumb is that lawns typically need one inch of rain per week to be healthy. #nmcwd

Don't forget to pick up your pet waste while enjoying walks in the parks and trails. Pet waste contains high amounts of nutrients that can pollute our lakes and creeks if not picked up. We love your furry family members, but not so much what they leave behind. This is an easy way to be good stewards of the watershed! #nmcwd

This Memorial Day weekend looks like it will be great weather to get outside for fishing, boating, or other water activities. However, don't get too busy that you forget about aquatic invasive species. Remember four words: Clean, Drain, Dry, and Dispose. Clean your equipment after leaving the water, Drain any water from your watercraft before moving on to another body of water, let your equipment or watercraft Dry, and properly Dispose of any aquatic invasive species you find. #nmcwd
