The Spring 2027 Lawns to Legumes grant application is open! 🌸Lawns to Legumes is a Minnesota-wide program that awards reimbursement-based funding of up to $400 for creating pollinator habitat in your outdoor space with native plants. 🌸Why plant for pollinators? Minnesota is home to over 500 native bee species, along with many butterflies, moths, and other pollinators. These creatures are essential to ecosystem health — but many have faced population declines. Lawns to Legumes helps reverse this trend by creating pollinator-friendly plantings across the state. ⏰ Apply by November 30 for a chance to receive a Spring 2027 grant. Learn more and apply at bluethumb.org

It's that time of year! STEM on Tap is starting back up and our first event of the school year will be next Wednesday, October 7th. Our speaker for the event will be Fawkes F. S. Char who is a PFAS Coordinator with the MPCA. Their presentation will cover the progress Minnesota state agencies have made to address PFAS, especially since publishing the PFAS Blueprint, and where we're headed next. Each workshop takes place at a brewery in the southwest metro and features a different STEM practitioner and topic. Workshops stand alone–attend one or attend them all! Peggy Kvam retired from our Board of Managers after six years of service. Peggy was first appointed to the board in September of 2020, at a uniquely challenging time. She began her service during the COVID-19 pandemic, when board meetings were held entirely online. Even so, Peggy approached the work with commitment and a genuine willingness to learn, serve, and contribute. She served as Treasurer since 2022. Peggy’s commitment to clean water and community service also predates her time on the board. Before her appointment, she participated in the district’s work as a cost-share grant recipient, completed the Minnesota Water Stewards program, and remained active in her community in other service roles. Thank you Peggy, and best of luck on the next adventure!
