Wes Leksell was hired in June as the newest member of the Nine Mile Creek team. He will work as an intern for the District through the summer. Wes graduated from the University of Minnesota in May with a bachelor of science in environmental engineering. His focus was water resources engineering and environmental sciences. He also studied water quality field methods at the Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. He previously worked for MnDOT research and a civil engineering design firm (HZ United). Growing up in Duluth, Wes loved spending time in the woods or at the lake. He is an avid curler in the wintertime and was a member of the 2017 College Curling National Champion gopher curling team. He is interested in protecting Minnesota’s lakes, rivers, and wetlands through engineered solutions and public outreach. He is looking forward to meeting some of the residents that make the watershed district so special during his time at the District this summer.
