Central Park ground breaking ceremony, May 19, 2026. The Central Park Improvement project is a City of Hopkins-led project aiming to improve park amenities while also improving stormwater function, flood reduction, and habitat in a wholistic approach to parcel redevelopment. The City of Hopkins has partnered with the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District throughout the design of the project and collaborated on green infrastructure development within the park. Our staff volunteered at Second Harvest Heartland yesterday. Together with other volunteer groups, we bagged enough potatoes and cereal to provide the equivalent of over 19,000 meals!

It's the season for trash cleanups! Our new Adopt a Creek sections are being claimed and cleaned by great volunteers all across the watershed. We estimate that volunteers have filled at least 25 big bags of trash from the creek this spring alone. Along with the usual candy wrappers and plastic bottles, people have found tires, poles, and a suitcase in the creek!
