Raingarden installed with a cost share grant

Three homes in a Bloomington neighborhood have each received a cost share grant to install a curb-cut raingarden. These raingardens collect polluted runoff from the street and allow the water to soak into the ground. Plants in the raingarden with long root systems help the soil naturally filter out pollutants, keeping the runoff out of our local lakes and Nine Mile Creek. The residents have also received a grant from Hennepin County to do restoration work around the nearby pond and to install a floating island. Their work to improve the health of the pond was highlighted in a recent Star Tribune article.
