Our staff was lucky to attend the Tribal-State Relations Training last month at Mystic Lake Center. We learned more about the 11 federally recognized tribes in Minnesota and how we can be better partners in protecting shared natural resources. We got to build relationships with tribal liaisons and other state employees from all sectors. If you'd like to learn more about our indigenous neighbors, check out Hoċokata Ṫi cultural center in Shakopee.

Our 2024 water quality monitoring report is now available on our website: https://www.ninemilecreek.org/the-2024-water-quality-monitoring-report-is-now-available/
You may notice that its look has changed--we made some formatting changes and updated the design! It still has the same level of information about the monitoring we did last year though.
Thanks to Barr Engineering Co for the new look!

We are excited for our first STEM on Tap this season tonight from 4:30-6:30. Artist Kim Boustead will talk with teacher attendees about natural inks and dyes.

STEM on Tap is a workshop series that connects STEM teachers of Grades 6 through 12 with practitioners, resources, and each other. Each workshop takes place at a brewery in the southwest metro and features a different STEM practitioner and topic.

Don't rake your leaves into the street! They go straight down the stormdrains to a lake or creek and break down, adding too many nutrients to the water. City street sweepers do clean the streets, but only what leaves fall there naturally; it would slow them down a lot if they had to pick up everything in your lawn too. Better to mulch them into your lawn or compost them.

Field work is really nice in warm fall weather, with the trees seeming to glow in the sunlight. Though it is unusual for this time of year, we'll still remember these days when it's cold and snowy.
