SEASONAL TIP: Pick up dog poop and throw it in the trash. Some may think it's natural, but the bacteria inside can hurt our creeks and lakes.

Field work is really nice in warm fall weather, with the trees seeming to glow in the sunlight. Though it is unusual for this time of year, we'll still remember these days when it's cold and snowy.

NMCWD is in the news locally in nationally this week with a couple of articles about our goldfish management program and partnership with the MN Zoo and the City of Edina.

Goldfish are an invasive species of fish that cause water quality problems due to their bottom feeding behavior. The goldfish population was likely started with the release of pet goldfish into one or more of the lakes within the system. Awareness and public education are needed to prevent this from happening

The district's ten year water management plan is being updated, and we would like your input! Take this survey to share what is important to you about water and what you think should be prioritized in the next plan.

Estamos actualizando el plan decenal de gestión del agua y queremos saber tu opinión. Participa en esta encuesta para contarnos qué aspectos del agua son importantes para ti y qué crees que deberíamos priorizar en el próximo plan.

In June 2025, The District started invasive fish removal from Penn Lake. These fish root around the bottom of the lake contributing to native vegetation loss and nutrient release. They also can outcompete native fish populations leading to limited lake biodiversity. For more information check out our website at https://www.ninemilecreek.org/whats-happening/current-studies/penn-lake-study/ #invasivefish #lakehealth #dontdump
