Our programs help you understand your role in keeping lakes and creeks clean.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

We offer a variety of programs for all ages, including family friendly, school and adult programs, seminars, workshops, and trainings. Learn more below, and check our upcoming events calendar to see what is happening soon.

For Adults and Families

Looking at water bugsFind workshops and programs about ways you and your family can keep water clean in your neighborhood. We offer family-friendly programs and activities at various locations around the watershed year-round. New in 2026, we are partnering with local artist Sarah Nassif on a community art program called Creative Waters.

We also visit many different community events, including farmer’s markets and city open houses. Check out our Events calendar to see what programs or community events are coming up.

For Schools

Students gather around a teacher who is demonstrating a water testing tool.We offer in person lessons free of charge about water, conservation, and watersheds. Our school programs include hands-on components and active demonstrations so students can learn by doing. We primarily focus on grades 4 and 5, but can adapt programs for most ages. Depending on your resources, we can do classroom visits or field trips to a local waterbody. Many lessons can also be offered in Spanish.

Many of our activities are from the Project WET curriculum (Water Education for Today). We also offer Project WET trainings for educators, so you can bring these lessons into your classroom or nature center.

Please note that school visits and field trips will be paused for the 2026-27 school year. We apologize for the inconvenience.

For Winter Maintenance Professionals

We partner with the MPCA and Bolton and Menk to offer Smart Salting classes to winter maintenance professionals. Smart Salting is a suite of techniques that minimize the environmental and economic impacts of chloride while still meeting public needs. There are different trainings for parking lots/sidewalks, roads, property management, and a new training for community leaders. The MPCA now also offers refresher trainings, which we can host.
